Step by step
How to get Ramp statements into your books
- 1
Download your Ramp statement
Log in, open Statements, choose the period and download the PDF, or export transactions as CSV. Repeat for each month you want in your books. Statements from any year are fine.
- 2
Drop the PDFs into ProfitBooks
Create a free account (or log in) and drop all the files at once. The AI identifies the account from the statement itself, so there is nothing to set up first.
- 3
Confirm two things
Your business name (read from the statement) and your industry. That builds your chart of accounts.
- 4
Review the few it was unsure about
Most transactions are categorized automatically with a confidence score. The rest wait in one list. Two clicks each.
- 5
Get your profit and loss
Reports are live from the first statement. The coverage map shows which Ramp months are in your books and which still need a statement.
What happens to the statement
Read, categorized, reconciled
Read
Account, period, balances and every line item are extracted from the Ramp PDF or photo. Multi-month statements are split into months.
Categorized
Each transaction gets a category and a confidence score based on your industry and your past corrections. Set the bar for what finalizes automatically.
Reconciled on Full Books
On the Full Books plan every statement is reconciled: opening and closing balances tied to the imported transactions, every month, so what is in your books matches what the bank says.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Does ProfitBooks connect to Ramp directly?
No, and that is deliberate. ProfitBooks works from the statements Ramp already gives you, so there is no login to share and no bank feed to break mid-month. Download the PDF, drop it in, done.
Can I upload a Ramp CSV instead of the PDF?
Yes, if Ramp offers a CSV or spreadsheet export, upload that. The PDF statement is preferred when you have it because it carries opening and closing balances for reconciliation.
What if my Ramp statement covers several accounts?
The main account is imported and you are told about the others. Upload their statements separately, or add the account manually, and each gets its own place on the coverage map.
How far back can I go?
As far as your bank lets you download. Most banks keep seven years of statements online. Upload in any order; each one is filed under the months it covers.
