FAQ
Questions, answered
Standard mileage or actual expenses?
Standard mileage is simpler and usually better for fuel-efficient cars driven a lot. Actual expenses (fuel, insurance, repairs, depreciation, multiplied by business-use percentage) can win for expensive or thirsty vehicles. You must choose standard mileage in the first year you use the car for business to keep the option later.
What records do I need?
A contemporaneous log: date, miles, destination, business purpose. A mileage app or a simple spreadsheet works. Upload the year-end summary to ProfitBooks and the deduction is recorded.
